I always dreamed of running a large crew, having a nice draw, and running a large operation; however it is a challenge and does come with many responsibilities. I must admit that on the job training is best and as they say if you want to swim get in. I took on many jobs that were high stress and held many obstacles, hurtles are best jumped by planning and preparing but communication between all trades is detrimental. Drywall finishers should be contacted daily as to a completion day, point-up dates should follow initial prime by painters, bathrooms and kitchens are high priority for cabinets and flooring. Prepping of all trim, door jambs, base, chair rail, and sills follow prime while sanders sand between coats on everything. Units are kept dust free, debris free, and safe to walk without clutter. All tools and materials are stored in an interior locked closet or bathroom. Doors are sprayed to a manufacturers finish with a 315 tip between prime and top coat. All point-up is spot primed and feathered prior to top coat. All walls are examined in every angle with a halogen light to ensure that there are no imperfections. All non painted flooring, hardware, and new cabinets are covered with plastic and tape. Top coat is usually flat unless specified to be eggshell. Baths and kitchens are semi-gloss. Trim is the final step in our process and punch-out is performed after carpet and all cabinet installations. No stone is left unturned.
